Yangon - Bagan - Salay - Mt. Popa - Bagan - Yangon

Explore the capital of Burma, with its pagodas and colonial district and fly further north to Bagan. Bagan is one of the regions that played an important role in the history of Burma, with many pagodas, monasteries, wall paintings which have been preserved very well by the dry climate in the region.
Day 1 Yangon (B)
Upon arrival at the airport in Yangon, pickup and transfer to the hotel for check in. The rest of the day is at your leisure to explore the city. In the evening visit to the Shwedagon Pagoda. Back to the hotel in the city for the night.

Day 2 Yangon - Bagan (B)
Early morning transfer to the airport for a flight from Yangon to Bagan. Upon arrival at Nyaung U airport, transfer to hotel and check-in. Start the tour with a visit to the colourful local market. Visit the Shwezigon Pagoda with its impressive golden chedi. Visit the Kyansittha Umin cave with its famous mural paintings and the Htilominlo temple. In the afternoon visit the Ananda Temple - an architectural masterpiece - and the Ananda Okkyaung one of the few remaining brick monasteries of the early Bagan period. Then visit the highest temple in Bagan, the 61m high Thatbyinnyu and the massive brick temple Dhammayangyi. In the evening enjoy the sunset on the banks of the Ayeyarwady River with a breathtaking view over the river and the temple of the city. Overnight in Bagan.

Day 3: Bagan - Salay - Mt Popa - Bagan (B)
After an early breakfast drive to Popa Mountain some 48 kilometres southeast of Bagan. Mount Popa is a 1500m high extinct volcano. On the summit there is a monastery as well as the revered shrines, interesting insights into the Buddhist culture. In the afternoon you leave Mount Popa and follow the signs to Salay, an old town with interesting ancient ruins from the early Bagan period. Among the attractions that are here is the Payathonzu complex, the Yoe Soe monastery which was built entirely out of wood and the Man Paya - Burma's largest painted Buddha statue. Then drive back to Bagan with a short stop near the village of Minnanthu. Visit the largest temple complex of the Bagan era. Upon arrival in Bagan, explore one of the largest archaeological sites in Asia and continue with the Payathonzu, Lemyethnar, Sulamuni and Sinbyushin temples and the Nandaminnyo Minnanthu monastery. Overnight in Bagan.

Day 4: Bagan - Yanngon (B)
In the morning transfer to the airport for your flight back to Yangon. Upon arrival transfer and check in at the hotel. In the afternoon visit the famous and lively Bogyoke Aung San (Scott) market. Visit the Sule Pagoda, the Botataung Pagoda and China Town. Overnight in Yangon.

Day 5 Yangon (B)
After breakfast at the hotel visit of the 70m long reclining Buddha Chaukhtatkyi. Afterwards visit the Karaweik hall and the royal barge on the royal Kandawgyi Lake. Transfer back to the airport.
